Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac = best Fleetwood Mac.

It’s hard to judge since they are so different.  They might as well had a different name.  Rumours is top ten rock and roll albums of all times by most measures.  I’d say they’re different genres even.

True. But d espite being a child of the 70s, I never really found anything appealing about the Buckingham/Nicks-era Mac, and I’d be stoked never to hear anything from Rumours again.

Once I discovered the earlier lineup’s output , I had to walk back my “I hate Fleetwood Mac” stance.

I hear ya. I  found the early stuff, along with Gallagher, Mayall and the rest of the “not Eric Clapton” British blues stuff later in life.  I mean it was there in the background but nothing I seeked out.  It’s good stuff!

Not just rock and roll, it’s one of the top ten best selling albums ever! I love Rumours, I think it’s hard to argue that they were better with the earlier lineup.

Of course Dead_Elvis is welcome to his opinion, he grew up in a different era to me with very different experiences :)

Ha ha. I have to laugh at myself. I take great pride in my rock and roll knowledge. But I didn’t know that “Oh Well” was Fleetwood Mac. I knew there was an earlier line up but couldn’t have named a song.

What a great song though, vocals, guitar rhythm, guitar lead, and breaks with little percussion interludes, all very catchy and classic.

RIP Mr. Green.

There’s a lot of guitar talent in that lineup with Danny Kirwan  and Bob Welch along side Green. Some songs from that early lineup are better known by the covers that other artists did.

Yessir!  Some people think Green Manalishi is not the best Fleetwood Mac song.  Those people are wrong.
